Teaching about human rights creates a learning environment and fosters communities where human rights are respected and acknowledged. By participating in activities, students can come to understand their power and responsibility as global citizens. Here are some ideas for curriculum content and classroom activities to get you started.

 

 
  • Create a curriculum on international human rights issues that highlights the problems on Burma or add Burma to an existing curriculum.

 

CURRICULUM RESOURCES
  • Education on the role of the UN to act in situations where there are war crimes and/or crimes against humanity and whether the situation in Burma meet these criteria based on the Rome Statute and prior International Criminal Court cases.
"WHY ACT?" PAGE
  • Invite exiled Burmese, Burma activists, journalists, and academics to attend class as a guest speaker to discuss the situation in Burma, and the role that outsiders can play in bringing change.
