Citizens
Every
citizen can make a significant contribution to create
a wave of support to convince the UN Security Council
to request the UN Secretary-General to appoint a
Commission of Inquiry to investigate crimes against
humanity and war crimes in Burma. Here are some
ideas to get you started, and some examples from
what other people have done before:

Learn
more about the situation in Burma.

Write
a letter to your President, Prime Minister,
and/or your elected representative in Parliament/Congress
demanding UN Security Council action on Burma
following the recommendations in the “Crimes
in Burma” report.

Write
a letter to your elected representative urging
your government to use its diplomatic weight to
work with UN Security Council members to build
support for a Commission of Inquiry, and to make
public statements in support of UN Security Council
action.

a letter to the editor of your local newspaper
demanding UN Security Council action on Burma
following the recommendations in the “Crimes
in Burma” report.

actively involved with organizations that advocate
on behalf of Burma’s people.
